Reading River City Press online doesn’t need an account, and we don’t track you. This page explains the little information this website does handle, and why.

Who we are
This website is run by River City Press Limited, 52 Ingestre Street, Whanganui 4500. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected] or phone (06) 345 3666.
Reading the paper
You can read every edition on this site without signing up or giving us any details.
- No tracking or advertising. We don’t use analytics, advertising networks, or tracking pixels.
- No cookies for readers. The site only sets a cookie when one of our staff signs in (see below).
Information sent automatically
Like any website, when your browser loads a page it sends some technical details: your IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for, and the time.
- Our web server records these in its logs, which we use only to keep the site secure and working. They are deleted after 14 days.
- Cloudflare delivers and protects our website, so your connection passes through its network. It may set a short-lived security cookie to block automated attacks. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- Google Fonts. The site’s typefaces are loaded from Google, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when you visit. See Google’s privacy policy.
Cloudflare and Google may process this information outside New Zealand.
Links in the paper
Pages of the paper include links to advertisers and other websites, and phone numbers and email addresses you can tap. Once you leave our site, that website’s own privacy policy applies.
Staff sign-in with Facebook
Only River City Press staff sign in to this website, to publish each week’s edition. They sign in with Facebook. When they do:
- We receive only their Facebook account ID and name. We don’t receive their email address, friends, posts, or anything else, and we never post to Facebook.
- We use the ID only to check that the person is allowed to publish.
- A sign-in cookie keeps them signed in for up to 7 days, or until they sign out.
- We record who published each edition, and when, in our records and server logs.
Staff can remove the website’s access at any time in their Facebook settings, under Apps and websites.
Deleting your data
To have your sign-in details removed from our records, email [email protected] with the subject “Data deletion request”. We will delete them and confirm by email.
Contacting us
If you email or phone us, for example about a story or an advert, we use your details only to reply and to deal with your request.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Contact us using the details above. If you’re not happy with how we handle your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
